Devlog, Process & Design
This was the first time I tried making games and using Unity. When I opened the Unity Editor interface, I was thrown into confusion. I started researching to learn how to use it bit by bit, I started researching to learn to use it. It took time, but I am getting more and more familiar with it.
My first step was to write down the draft of the main story of the game (sorry my draft was in Chinese).
Then I started character and background design. I didn't use many assets and I chose to do most of the art myself because I wanted to let people know about Chinese culture and have an original style of the game. I wanted the characters to look natural and smooth as they moved, I had to do a lot of animation design. I had to draw every movement of the characters, which was a difficult part that took a lot of time. I had some trouble setting the size of these pixel paintings, and it took me a while to figure them out.

I also created some animations for the story of the game (the animated version can be seen in the trailer).
After completing most of the design needed to get the game started, it came to the most difficult part for me, which was programming. I had never done programming before, and I didn't even download the software I needed to write code. I've done a lot of research on this. After I completed the step-by-step study and looked up information, I generally learned how to use “computer language” to “communicate” with programming. It's also rewarding to write page after page of code to keep characters moving and playable in the game.
The game still needs a lot of development and improvement. The process of making games is hard, but I'm glad I learned a lot. I think these skills laid the foundation for my future game design. It makes me feel like I'm one step closer to my dream. I will continue to work hard on studying games and try to bring more mature and interesting games to you in the future.
